British Airways Executive Club Changes Coming

Despite the popularity of the news regarding the recent announcement of the changes coming to the British Airways Executive Club frequent flier loyalty programme, we at The Gate purposely waited a few days before posting about it simply because not all of the details have yet been released about the changes. As a result, there is a lot of speculation, supposition and conjecture regarding the complete details, due as of now to be released in November.

We do know the following as of now:

  • Each British Airways Mile becomes an Avios point
  • Straightforward pricing is designed for the simpler and easier pricing of reward flights
  • Reward Flight Saver will supposedly offer better value to shorter rewards flights in certain zones
  • Avios points can be redeemed for lodging and car rentals in addition to flights

Although the name of the currency is changing to Avios, the name of the British Airways Executive Club frequent flier loyalty programme will not change. The re-branding is scheduled to occur in November.

While many of the details that have initially been released may sound appealing and positive, there are a number of FlyerTalk members that are already quite unhappy. Rather than opine and fuel the speculation on the programme changes here at The Gate, we would rather you come to your own conclusions from the vast abundance of information found through opinions posted by FlyerTalk members themselves.
