Another Point Redemption Increase for Reward Nights at Select Properties With Priority Club?

This is the pool and “swim-up” bar at the InterContinental Resort Tahiti, where a free reward night will now cost you 40,000 instead of 30,000 Priority Club Rewards frequent guest loyalty program points. FlyerTalk member GordonGordon reports that both the InterContinental Resort and Spa Moorea and InterContinental Resort Tahiti properties are showing that 40,000 Priority Club Rewards frequent guest loyalty program points are required to be redeemed for a free reward night — and other FlyerTalk members have been confirming this finding.

My research confirms that I am seeing this as well at the time this article was posted.

It was only a week or so ago that the InterContinental Resort and Spa Moorea property required the redemption of 25,000 Priority Club Rewards frequent guest loyalty program points for a free reward night — which was actually a reduction when the reward charts of Priority Club Rewards was completely restructured back in January of 2013 — and the InterContinental Resort Tahiti property required the redemption of 30,000 Priority Club Rewards frequent guest loyalty program points for a free reward night, according to GordonGordon.

Other redemption increases are being reported at other hotel properties as well: FlyerTalk member bmttokyo claims that the InterContinental Athenaeum Athens increased within two months from 30,000 to 50,000 Priority Club Rewards frequent guest loyalty program points required for a free reward night; while FlyerTalk member docklander claims that the InterContinental ANA Manza Beach Resort increased over a period of two years from 30,000 to to 40,000 to 50,000 Priority Club Rewards frequent guest loyalty program points required for a free reward night.

What appears to worsen matters is that the aforementioned increases in Priority Club Rewards frequent guest loyalty program points required for a free reward night — all of which are significant — seem to have been unannounced.

Have you encountered any unannounced increases in the redemption of Priority Club Rewards frequent guest loyalty program points required for a free reward night?

Ironically the Intercontinental Athens is on the Point Breaks list for 5,000/night currently. That seems a bit odd.

Here is what I can’t understand about PC redemption: Small HI or HIX in northern Michigan resort towns. If I look at a “business” oriented property in one of the bigger cities in southern Michigan rate might be $119 or 15k pts. Same type of property in a resort area in northern Michigan will be $109 or 35k pts. WTF? Shouldn’t the points be relative to the dollar rate for the rooms? Why do the reward rates at these properties have no connection to the published rates?
