Furry Family Service by WestJet — and a Fare Sale

WestJet is offering a new service called Furry Family for you to enjoy traveling with your pets aboard the airplane during a flight, as the airline eases restrictions on pets in the cabin in order to attract more guests who want to travel with the family pet — and you take advantage of a fare sale to destinations in Canada, the United States, Mexico and the Caribbean through June 27, 2013. You must book your reservation by April 3, 2013 at 11:59 in the evening Mountain Daylight Time.

No longer will you need to worry about the pet peeve of where to board your pet when you travel. Instead, you can take them with you to accompany you in the main cabin to any destination served by WestJet, instead of locking them in some conveyance and throwing them into the cargo hold.

All right, I admit it — this is nothing but a joke:

Notice how the animals get treated better this year than children were treated last year.

Regardless, the airfare sale is indeed real — but unlike last year, there is no coupon code which I can find, nor any definitive savings about which I can tell you. You must search for your flight to find a sale fare. For destinations in:

  • Canada — travel on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays
  • The United States — travel on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays
  • Mexico and the Caribbean — travel on any day of the week where WestJet offers scheduled service

This offer is limited and subject to availability. Sale fares are displayed in the Econo category. Total price could fluctuate on flights with connections of four hours or greater. Seat sale fares are discounted from WestJet’s lowest regular fare, apply only to flights marketed and operated wholly by WestJet, and are not applicable when traveling with code-share, interline or other airline partners. Advertised taxes and fees for United States, Mexico and Caribbean destinations can fluctuate based on exchange rate. A fuel surcharge between $22.00 and $45.00 per direction still applies to Air Miles redemption bookings. Seats at these fares are limited and may not be available on all flights. Only new bookings are eligible for this offer. The airfares are non-refundable, and an advance purchase is required. Flights may not operate on certain days…

…and other terms and conditions apply.

Those people who know me will tell you I have a warped sense of humor — but I just never really found April Fool’s Day jokes to be funny. Rather, they are usually stupid and juvenile in general, in my opinion — and some can be downright cruel.

While this one by WestJet is somewhat novel, it is not nearly as imaginative or as entertaining as the one from last year.

Like it or not, it has become a tradition on FlyerTalk to post discussions which are nothing more than April Fool’s Day jokes. Here is a list of some of the discussions posted as April Fool’s Day jokes this year:

I hope that you had a very happy and productive — and fun — April Fool’s Day. Until next year…
