A woman who was 25 years of age reportedly died aboard American Airlines flight 962, which departed from São Paulo in Brazil and was heading to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.
Emergency procedures were reportedly performed on the woman by a doctor who happened to be on board the aircraft, along with members of the flight crew after the woman started to suffer from medical distress. She was pronounced dead upon arrival. There was no apparent initial evidence of trauma on the body.
The Boeing 777 aircraft — reportedly containing 220 passengers and 14 crew members — was diverted to the international airport in Houston, where it remained for approximately three hours before the flight resumed and was completed.
An autopsy is expected to be performed on the body of the unidentified woman at the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences to determine the cause of death. No other details are known at this time.
