Virgin America Honors American and United Elite Status

From now through April 30, 2013, Virgin America will honor elite status flyers from both American and United Airlines. Elite members of either program can request matched status in VA’s Elevate Gold and Elevate Silver levels.

FF member lightning was the first to post the news, which was announced today by Virgin America. Passengers taking advantage of the offer maintain their status at AA and UA. When the offer ends April 30, you’ll be able to keep your VA elite status by earning the necessary frequent flyer miles. Expect the usual perks from Virgin America — priority boarding, free checked bag entitlements and upgrades when space is available.

What you don’t get between now and the end of April are the same elite status benefits flying Virgin Atlantic or Virgin Australia. There’s also only one complimentary pass to the VA lounge at LAX and no 25% off discount codes.

Nonetheless, a pretty sweet offer by Virgin America in their effort to compete with long-established AA and UA.
