The Passport Escape awards option in the Hyatt Gold Passport frequent guest loyalty program has been eliminated as of November 1, 2012, according to FlyerTalk member and official company representative Gold Passport Concierge.
The Passport Escape awards option included breakfasts and three or five dinners over a stay of five or seven nights, depending on the option you chose.
While some FlyerTalk members are not happy about the loss of this award option, others claim that there is little value in the award and that it was an underused option that may have been costing more to the Hyatt Gold Passport frequent guest loyalty program. The general consensus and agreement among most FlyerTalk members is that they wish they were given more advance notice with the announcement instead of only two weeks.
I can tell you that as a Diamond level elite member of the Hyatt Gold Passport frequent guest loyalty program, I have never used the Passport Escape awards option. However, the reduction of options on how frequent guest loyalty program points can be used is usually never positive and — for that very reason — it does not mean that I do not lament the loss of this option despite the fact that it does not directly affect me. The reduction of options usually translates into the eventual increased amount of frequent guest loyalty program points required for redemption.
Does the loss of the Passport Escape awards option affect you in any way? If so, how?
