FlyerTalk members who are also members of the Diamond Club frequent flier loyalty program of British Midland International — also known as bmi — are mourning and reminiscing as flight 928 marks the last commercial flight operated by bmi and the end of an era as a result of the airline being sold.
A water cannon salute commemorating nearly 75 years of commercial air service by bmi welcomed the Airbus A321-231 aircraft sporting the bmi livery after it landed earlier today at Heathrow Airport in London from Baku. Before landing, the pilots of the aircraft did a “fly-by” past Donington Hall as a farewell gesture.
More photographs are available in addition to the discussion where FlyerTalk members share their fond memories of bmi and bid adieu to the airline as it transitions gracefully into history.
Goodbye, bmi.
