If you plan to rent a car from Hertz at an airport location in the United States, Puerto Rico, Canada and Mexico between now and November 30, 2012, you have a chance to earn 250 bonus SkyMiles and 250 Medallion Qualification Miles towards elite status for next year with Delta Air Lines — but you must reserve your vehicle rental in advance, and the rental must be a minimum of three consecutive days.
In addition to the 250 bonus SkyMiles and 250 Medallion Qualification Miles, you can also save up to 40 percent on your car rental and earn 200 Delta Air Lines SkyMiles per day if you are an elite Medallion SkyMiles frequent flyer loyalty program member. If you are not an elite Medallion SkyMiles frequent flyer loyalty program member, you will still earn 100 Delta Air Lines SkyMiles per day during the rental period.
I see no verbiage which indicates that the offer of earning of 250 Medallion Qualification Miles is only a one-time deal. If the earning of 250 Medallion Qualification Miles is per three-day rental, that means that there is a chance to earn as many as 4,000 Medallion Qualification Miles towards SkyMiles Medallion elite status for next year.
Regardless, this is still another way to inch closer towards SkyMiles Medallion elite status for next year. However, I would not go out of my way to rent a vehicle for a minimum of three days specifically to take advantage of this offer — especially as my experience with Hertz is that within the United States, rates are usually more expensive than rentals of comparable vehicles at competing rental car companies. However, I prefer Hertz and Avis when I rent vehicles internationally outside of North America, but unfortunately, those vehicle rentals do not qualify for this offer.
