FlyerTalk members who are Delta Air Lines SkyMiles frequent flier loyalty program members are reporting that upgrading from international premium W economy class seats on Air France is no longer possible — and there was no announcement about this apparent change in upgrade policy.
FlyerTalk members surmise that this may be the latest casualty in what appears to be vanishing availability in O class — which is the fare code for business class seats on award tickets — on Air France.
Some Delta Air Lines SkyMiles frequent flier loyalty program members claim that upgrading on Air France flights was the only remaining valuable use of systemwide upgrades given to Platinum Medallion and Diamond Medallion members — and that this reported new policy now renders them useless and further devalues the SkyMiles program to the point where some FlyerTalk members are considering not renewing their elite status for next year.
To be fair, this reported policy is not being implemented by Delta Air Lines, but rather by Air France. Still, it will significantly affect some FlyerTalk members who are Platinum Medallion and Diamond Medallion SkyMiles members.
Will you be one of those FlyerTalk members who will not attempt to qualify for elite status for next year, or is there more to this supposed new policy? What do you think?
