Honey Money for Honeymoon: No Honey Here?

FlyerTalk member Hauser33 claims that Starwood ruined our Honey Moon! (hotel refused to accept Starwood “honey money”).

Hauser33 was under the impression that Honey Money, paper certificates obtained for all gift purchases from one’s Starwood Honeymoon Registry, was good at any Starwood property worldwide, such as at the Four Points by Sheraton Roma West Hotel where Hauser33 attempted to use Honey Money paper certificates but was intially refused.

Did you know that Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. even had a honeymoon registry program?

Confusion and disagreement abound, including extensive discussions about legal issues, whether or not it makes a difference that Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. issued the Honey Money certificates and not the Starwood Preferred Guest frequent guest loyalty program, and even how Hauser33 could possibly be labeled an “international criminal”.

Can FlyerTalk members Starwood Lurker and Starwood Lurker II step in and assist Hauser33 on this issue and save the day? Has a resolution been reached? If so, what and how?

    Starwood honeymoney is a scam! Class action lawsuit!

    we got approx $5000 in honeymoney from friends and family as a wedding gift and experienced the exact same thing as the other horror stories on this site.

    confirmed w/ starwoods that hmoney would be accepted at le meridien mumbai only to be flat out rejected when trying to check out. luckily, we were stubborn and made the hotel call starwoods and absolutely refused to pay. roughly 3 HOURS LATER they finally let us go. guess it wasn’t as bad as the couple who paid out of pocket, but this is ridiculous on your honeymoon.

    now we also have honeymoney leftover that we couldnt use and only get the runaround from starwoods and wedding channel. have contacted a lawyer on initiating a class action lawsuit because we feel like we have no option left.

    i dont know how other company’s honeymoon programs work but,
    AVOID STARWOOD HONEY MONEY AT ALL COSTS!!!

    i’m seriously saying this because i dont want the program to ruin anyone else’s honeymoon. anyone who wants more info can email me at jb_pak at yahoo.com
