FlyerTalk member dalm reports that as of August 1, 2012, you will need to redeem 190,000 Marriott Rewards frequent guest loyalty program points for a certificate good for $1,000.00 towards a cruise — an increase of 45,000 Marriott Rewards frequent guest loyalty program points, or slightly greater than 31 percent.
Although there is some mockery in this discussion on FlyerTalk that Marriott Rewards frequent guest loyalty program members are going to “leave in droves” over this latest redemption adjustment, the anger and resentment is more about the devaluation of the Marriott Rewards frequent guest loyalty program itself — such as the elimination of all-inclusive rewards back in October with no advance notice.
At least there is some advance notice for this change. Will this latest change compel you to switch to a competing frequent guest loyalty program?
