Free Hyatt Gold Passport 90-day Trial Platinum Elite Status

If you are an active Hyatt Gold Passport frequent guest loyalty program member who possesses a Visa Signature credit card and do not have Platinum elite status, simply register your Visa Signature credit card by May 11, 2012 to receive Hyatt Gold Passport Platinum status membership for Visa Signature cardholders for a trial period of 90 days…

…and if you stay eight eligible nights at any property which is part of the Hyatt Corporation portfolio worldwide, you will keep that Hyatt Gold Passport Platinum elite status through February of 2013.

This offer is only open to Hyatt Gold Passport frequent guest loyalty program members worldwide who possess a Visa Signature credit card issued in the United States.

If I was not already a Hyatt Gold Passport Diamond frequent guest loyalty program member, I would register for this promotion, which is similar to the promotion Hilton Worldwide offered Visa Signature credit card members back in June of 2011.

Terms and conditions apply.

According to the benefits page https://creditcards.chase.com/credit-cards/hyatt-card.aspx Platinum status is now a benefit of the card, period.

“Platinum Hyatt Gold Passport membership for as long as you are a cardmember

Platinum status valid as long as your Hyatt Credit Card is open and not in default and you comply with Hyatt Gold Passport program rules. Authorized users will not be eligible for Platinum status or associated Platinum benefits.”

Is this a new benefit that makes it unnecessary to use the 90-day trial offer? Or is this a benefit specific to applying using a particular link?
