FlyerTalk member oliver2002 demonstrates the difficulty of egress from the window seat to the aisle of the aircraft.
Lufthansa has just recently launched their new long-haul business class concept — and reaction by FlyerTalk members is mixed. While some are giving it praise, many others are underwhelmed and skeptical that the improvements are significant enough as compared to the long-haul business class product currently being offered by Lufthansa.
The new business class seat with an air-cushioning system reclines into a lie-flat bed with adjustable firmness, supposedly ample enough for a person as tall as 6 feet 6 inches in height. Amenities include 15″ monitors at every seat and noise-canceling headphones.
This description sounds nice, but due to the pair of seats angling towards each other and the small narrow space to rest your feet, there is potential difficulty of getting comfortable. However, a partition prevents your feet from touching the feet of your seatmate when the feet are in their respective footrests. Also, egress to the aisle from the window seat will apparently not be easy, and some FlyerTalk members believe that the business class seats are not conducive to privacy overall.
Looking at photographs and videos — links to them are posted in the discussion — of this new long-haul business class seat, I personally would probably not be completely comfortable and get a good night’s sleep when in its completely horizontal position. I could be wrong, as I have yet to try it for myself. However, the seat appears to be comfortable for sitting and reclining purposes.
As a side note, you have the opportunity to win two tickets for the first flight with the new Boeing 747-8 aircraft, which is the longest passenger aircraft in the world and will soon be a part of the Lufthansa fleet.
What are your thoughts about the new long-haul business class concept to be offered by Lufthansa?
