In Brief: Flyers Faint, Bleed From Noses & Mouths After Mid-Air Engine Failure

A recent Orient Thai Airlines flight from Thailand experienced a massive altitude drop while en route to China, causing passengers onboard to bleed from their noses and mouths. The reported cause of the altitude loss was an engine failure which ultimately forced flight OX 682 to make an emergency landing at a Kunming airport.

According to passenger accounts, the abrupt drop caused many of them to faint and brought even the crew to tears. Oxygen masks were deployed and, upon regaining control of the aircraft, the pilots were able to land safely.
