In Brief: China to Enforce New Standards for Foreign Airlines

Reuters reported May 20 that China’s aviation regulation administration will enforce new safety standards for foreign airlines operating in the country.

The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) will score all 156 foreign carriers on a 12-point scale with 34 criteria, including accidents, rules and regulation compliance, and safety-related customer complaints from customers, Reuters said.

If their scores are low, carriers risk losing their operating license and will be banned from flying in China.

Kudos to China for allowing foreigner carriers to operate flights in China! I had no idea that this was possible.
