Check In

When entering the hotel, we were greeted by bell captain. He took our luggage and brought us some glögg while we waited for the only CSR to be free. The guests talking to her seemed to have multiple questions about many things, but we sat down sipping our glögg. After a while the bell captain came us telling that we could check in now. Check-in was friendly and relatively fast. She told me we had been upgraded to one-bedroom suite (I booked basic twin with points) and thanked my for my loaylty. After we got the keys, the bell captain asked for the room number, saying that he would take the luggage up while we finished our glögg, if we wanted. Well, why not!

Room

704 is a corned suite with good-sized living room, smallish bedroom and HUGE bathroom. Everything is still almost brand new, so no complaints there. Living room.

Service

Service was really great throughout our stay. Staff is mix of locals and international, all obviously eager to please. And I think also proud of their new hotel.

Dining

We had drinks and some snacks in the EL in the evening (snacks and alcohol between 6 and 8 pm). There were two warm options (spring rolls and chicken skewers), some vegetables, sandwiches etc. For me this was enough for a light meal. Wines were crap TBH. They had also two different kinds of beers, gin, vodka etc.

We also had breakfast in the EL, pretty standard European EL breakfast. Good bread and juice. Service again very nice, and the EL has nice views (when it's not pitch dark outside :-) And I happen to like this kind of interiors.

Pool

Pool area is pretty large, pool itself maybe 18 meters long. Normally this would be enough for me to do laps quite comfortably, but this time around the area was overrun with several families etc. Not complaining, I could still do some swimming and relax in both the sauna and steam bath. (Yes, swimwear was used.) Locker room was big, and the locker lock system easy to use (not always the case in hotels...)

Overall

This is a very nice hotel, and at least for short visits Diamonds seem to get nice upgrades even on award stays. This time around there were people, but hotel was not full. The hotel is not situated right in the center of city (or next to the Old Town), but I think I would walk maybe 15 minutes there (perhaps less). There is a park right in front of the hotel.

Wifi was fast, and rooms in good condition (which is not surprising given the age of the hotel). Good service, when checking out the bell boy carried our bags to the taxi.

There is a 24-hour casino in the hotel. Maybe next time!
