I thought under 12 was exempt from harassment.

I'm pretty sure a child does not get additional screening if they are SSSS and their parent is not. You shouldn't have any trouble on the checkpoint.

You have to empty the cache and clear the memory between attempts to stop a random SSSS - or use different computers. If he's "selected for a reason" this doesn't work.

Tried it on another PC. No dice.

Is anyone truly exempt from TSA harassment?

Does he have a frequent flyer number on UA? If not, then you might consider making one for him soon to start building up a history of travel.

(For the same reason, 18-year-old college freshmen tend to have a lot of trouble getting their first credit card....the credit bureaus don't see much--if any history--on their SSN.)
Did you even properly read the OP? Given your question, it seems doubtful.

Someone should name their twin boys George Walker Bush and the other Barack Hussein Obama and then have fun with this.

The boy may have had a history of being sexually abused by an adult male child molester.

Good luck! Let us know how it goes, and if you find out why your son was flagged for SSSS.

See, I'd be more predisposed to believing that if the kid looked like he needed comforting. He wasn't crying or closing in on himself or anything. When she grabbed him and gathered him up into her lap, he looked more like he was suffering complete and abject humiliation.

And judging by some of the things he had said in the fish bowl to his mother while trying to help us convince her that everything was going to be just fine I think it's less a history of him being sexually abused by an adult male, and more just her thinking that if some guy touches him he'll magically turn gay or something.

Either way, he didn't look amused by his mother's behavior at all. As it stands, the whole thing was just... weird. I felt sorry for the kid.

Only thing different on this is he's flying as a non-rev from a companion ticket voucher I got with my MP Visa

That is the reason it popped up ssss on the airline, we get those all of the time for non-rev tickets. Many times the gate agent can fix that but some are lazy and won't. I always thought if the child was under 12 they ignored it. I am so looking forward to a new HS person. The SSSS stuff has been needing a major overhaul since day one.

So my son is definitely on some sort of TSA list.

Checked in at BWI and the UA rep asked for his birthday. So he was a hit on one of the lists ... I'm guessing NFL otherwise he'd have just been flagged for haraSSSSment and they wouldn't have asked. Looks like he joins the Robert Johnsons and Dave Nelsons of the world.

The good news it wasn't a big deal ... just his birthday and that was it. No SSSS flag. I asked if he was going to have to deal with this on every flight and they said most likely ... take it up with TSA.

So yes, TSA thinks my 4 year old is a terrorist. Kip Hawley really is an idiot.

On another, funnier note, the KHIAI shirt got some attention. One guy said he would love to wear it to work. I had my son tell them who an idiot was ... he yelled "Kip Hawley is an Idiot!!!" They all laughed. Too bad it's true. At least those TSO's seemed to think so.

A big to Kippie and TSA for putting my son someone with my son's name on a list.

Super

I've been checking around the UA forum. It doesn't seem that they flag on companion tickets. People have been flying on them and UA's even been treating them as revenue and even giving FF credit for him.

His flag appears to be NFL related.
