I arrived in BKK today on the way to USM and didn't know about the digital arrival card, so I ended up spending a solid thirty minutes at the kiosk trying to get it go through. It was really finicky (similar to the VN evisa website, which I recently started a thread about).

There is a website for the digital arrival card, and you should definitely use it and get it done before you fly. Unfortunately, I'm not sure what the proper link is. I can tell you that the site that's currently at the top of Google search results is a phishing site, though. The first immigration lady I spoke with confirmed this. If I can find what I believe is the official site, I'll try update this post with a link. Or, maybe someone else here already knows it and can post.

ETA: My boss just sent me the link he used and it looks legit to me:

Anyone had any luck with getting quoted lower tax amounts in similar situations? I’d rather not pay that much in tax and I’ve seen other threads with people saying the amounts can be inconsistent.

if I’d have any luck calling back and keeping my fingers crossed for a different quote then I’ll give it a go

Reminds me of the time I was on a BA flight from CUN-LGW a few years ago which was diverted to CWL when that drone closed LGW for a few days....they assured us they'd contine to LGW when airspace reopened so I got myself another G&T & settled down, but, alas, they ran out of hours and we were all kicked out. I was delighted! Less so the other few hundred pax

EDIT: Looks scheduled to leave again 10.35am, so my own guess would be medical. Hope everyone's OK.

When checking in at DFW, I requested printed boarding passes. I prefer them rather than trying to scan from my smartphone. Although she printed the boarding passes, she still attached the luggage tag receipts to my passport. She said the airline was switching to mobile boarding passes.

Unlike my experience with Eva Air at DFW, the gate agents did not check passengers’ passports before boarding started. The passports were checked during the boarding process.

While waiting at the gate at IST, the agents did check our passports and stamp the boarding passes. This sped up boarding. Of course, those with mobile passes had to show their passports while boarding.

Is the DFW agent correct? Is TK not printing boarding passes? The passengers without them were the ones who slowed the boarding.

Has anyone else run into this with JAL domestic First Class and partner programme earning?

I booked Okinawa–Tokyo–Sapporo in JAL First Class and only discovered after ticketing that the booking was issued in A class. Cathay Pacific has now confirmed that this fare earns no Asia Miles and no Status Points on domestic sectors.

What frustrates me isn’t necessarily the earning rate itself. Airlines can set whatever accrual rules they want.

The issue is transparency.

During the booking process I could not find any disclosure of the booking class. Without knowing the booking class, it is impossible to check partner earning charts before purchase. The only reason I found out was because I contacted Cathay afterwards and asked them to investigate.

How are customers supposed to make an informed decision when the information needed to determine mileage and status earning isn’t visible before payment?

I find it particularly odd given that this is a genuine JAL First Class ticket, not a heavily discounted economy fare. Many frequent flyers would reasonably assume that a First Class ticket on a oneworld carrier would earn at least some miles or status credit with a partner programme.

Am I missing something? Is there a way to see the booking class during the JAL booking flow that I overlooked, or is this information genuinely hidden until after ticketing?

Interested to hear whether others have experienced the same issue and whether any partner programmes credit these domestic A class fares differently.
