March book - In the Company of the Courtesan by Sarah Dunant. Discussion here.

April book - Digging to America by Anne Tyler. (Used copies on Amazon for just over $1.) Discussion start date April 30 (tentative).

May book - Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson. http://www.amazon.com/Three-Cups-Tea...8702431&sr=1-3

Jan book - A Trip to the Stars by Nicholas Christopher

Feb book - Lost in Translation by Nicole Moines (not to be confused with the Sophia Coppola movie or numerous other books with the same title).
http://www.amazon.com/Lost-Translati...7264166&sr=1-2

Mar book - The Moonlit Cage by Linda Holeman

April book - City of Thieves by David Benioff (Will be released in paperback March 31. This is the best book I've read all year.)

May book - The Enchantress of Florence by Salman Rushdie. Available in paperback Jan. 6.

June book - The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. Thanks to scoow for the recommendation.

July book - The Best of Friends: Two Women, Two Continents and One Enduring Friendship by Sarah James

I added the May selection. Also, it looks like the Last Chinese Chef comes out in paperback June 8, and you can already order from Amazon. This will probably be the July selection.

"The Last Chinese Chef" is already out in paperback so it's the June selection (probably start the discussion end of June/beginning of July).

Discussion's now up for "The Last Chinese Chef". The Last Chinese Chef discussion

Also, as you can see, I don't have any new books on the reading list. I'll get on that, but also really welcome your suggestions. Must be out in paperback (for travel ease) and ideally should deal with different places (travel) and appeal to women (afterall, this is the women's forum ).

Just added a new book selection. I apologize for being late. I made it for July/August since a lot of us are likely busy with holiday travel during the summer.

The book is Aunt Julia and the Scriptwriter by Mario Vargas Llosa.

We need a new book. Any suggestions? Paperback, with a link to women and travel (can be loose links).

I have a stack of possibilities, but want to read them first. If someone has a suggestion, please PM me!

Well, our discussions are fizzling ...or maybe just plain dead ...but I still get PMs from people saying they are reading the books and enjoying the suggestions, just getting behind or not having time to contribute to a discussion. So, I'll keep taking suggestions and posting books for the time being.

I've skipped September, since it's mostly over , but the October book is Bel Canto by Ann Patchett
Summary on Amazon. Also available used for a penny plus shipping.

I've read, and enjoyed, several books I would not have otherwise known about, and I've even tracked a couple of the authors to read more of their work.

But I don't have much to comment on, except yes, I liked it, or no, I didn't, or me too. The enjoyment hasn't led me to a lot to say.

I am glad this is continuing.
