Women's Forum Book Club Selections - Thoughts on changing this?
So everyone can order their books well in advance, I'll keep a list of our book club selections at least 1-2 months ahead and post them here. Thanks to obscure2k for picking out our first two books and leading our first discussion. If anyone else has book suggestions, feel free to PM me.
March book - In the Company of the Courtesan by Sarah Dunant. Discussion here.
April book - Digging to America by Anne Tyler. (Used copies on Amazon for just over $1.) Discussion start date April 30 (tentative).
June book - Last Chinese Chef. Suggested by kalkat. Discussion here: The Last Chinese Chef discussionAnd don't forget to check Community for our First Last Chinese Chef Do in late July.
Dec book - Revolutionary Road by Richard Yates. (Latest edition will be released Nov. 25. Bit of a warning ...I just finished this and found it a bit on the depressing side.)
Jan book - A Trip to the Stars by Nicholas Christopher
Upcoming: Last Chinese Chef. Suggested by kalkat. This one will be out in paperback soon. Once it is we'll assign a date, but thought I'd put it up early in case anyone wants to get the hardback or put in a library request.
I read this last year when I was in China for the X-Games...amazing read! Great choice!!!

I added the May selection. Also, it looks like the Last Chinese Chef comes out in paperback June 8, and you can already order from Amazon. This will probably be the July selection.
Also, as you can see, I don't have any new books on the reading list. I'll get on that, but also really welcome your suggestions. Must be out in paperback (for travel ease) and ideally should deal with different places (travel) and appeal to women (afterall, this is the women's forum ).

Just added a new book selection. I apologize for being late. I made it for July/August since a lot of us are likely busy with holiday travel during the summer.
The book is Aunt Julia and the Scriptwriter by Mario Vargas Llosa.

I loved that book. Read it many years ago and am looking forward to reading it again. Great choice

Well, our discussions are fizzling ...or maybe just plain dead ...but I still get PMs from people saying they are reading the books and enjoying the suggestions, just getting behind or not having time to contribute to a discussion. So, I'll keep taking suggestions and posting books for the time being.
I've skipped September, since it's mostly over , but the October book is Bel Canto by Ann Patchett
Summary on Amazon. Also available used for a penny plus shipping. http://www.amazon.com/Bel-Canto-Ann-.../dp/0060934417
I've read, and enjoyed, several books I would not have otherwise known about, and I've even tracked a couple of the authors to read more of their work.
But I don't have much to comment on, except yes, I liked it, or no, I didn't, or me too. The enjoyment hasn't led me to a lot to say.
