Get Silver flight benefits with minimum $1,000 qualifying flight spend on flights flown between October 3 and December 18, 2016

New and existing WestJet RBC World Elite MasterCard cardholders will receive a $500 reduction on qualifying flight spend requirements to reach Silver or Gold, respectively.
To participate in the 2016 Fast Track promotion (the "Promotion"), you must individually register for the Promotion between October 3 and December 18, 2016 (the "Promotion Period"). WestJet Rewards members who do not register for the Promotion by December 18, 2016 will not be eligible.
Qualifying flight spend on flights flown is defined as the amount spent on published base fares on WestJet-marketed flights flown during the Promotion Period and does not include WestJet Vacations packages, partner-marketed flights, car, hotel or travel insurance bookings made on westjet.com, taxes, fees or charges, redemption of WestJet dollars (including the welcome bonus associated with either WestJet RBC MasterCard) or any other reward program redemption (see Program terms and conditions for more details).
A WestJet flight flown during the Promotion Period is defined as a WestJet-marketed flight, which is any flight (excluding those booked as part of a WestJet Vacations package) with a WS carrier code preceding the flight number (for example, WS 656, WS 3396) normally eligible for WestJet dollar accrual as per the WestJet Rewards program terms and conditions. The flight may be operated by WestJet, WestJet Encore or a code-share partner airline.
Both new and existing bookings for flights flown during the Promotion Period will be eligible.
The member's 9-digit WestJet Rewards ID must be included on all reservations at the time of booking or check-in to allow for qualifying flight spend and/or flights flown to be tracked for this Promotion.
Qualifying flight spend will be tracked according to the Promotion Period stated above and is independent of the qualifying flight spend reported during a member's individual qualifying year; members who cross into a new qualifying year during the Promotion Period will have qualifying flight spend from both years considered for this Promotion.
Registered members may be eligible to receive either Silver or Gold flight benefits through the Promotion, but not both, based on total qualifying flight spend or flights flown during the Promotion Period. A member who reaches the requirement for Gold will receive associated flight benefits within 30 days of reaching the qualifying flight spend or flights flown requirement; a member who does not reach Gold but reaches the requirement for Silver will receive the flight benefits following the completion of the Promotion Period, and no later than January 31, 2017. In each case, flight benefits will be awarded through issuance of an email to the address on record in the member's WestJet Rewards account, provided that the member is opted in to receive WestJet Rewards account updates.
Flight benefits associated with the Silver tier (comprised of four airport lounge vouchers, four advance seat selection vouchers and first checked bag free) will be awarded to registered members who achieve 1) a minimum of $1,000 in qualifying flight spend for WestJet flights flown during the Promotion Period, or 2) a minimum of $500 in qualifying flight spend for WestJet flights flown during the Promotion Period and are WestJet RBC World Elite MasterCard primary cardholders. Flight benefits associated with the Gold tier (comprised of ten airport lounge vouchers, four advance seat selection vouchers, first and second checked bags free, no fee for same-day flight changes at check-in, priority security screening at select airports and advance boarding) will be awarded to registered members who achieve 1) a minimum of $1,500 in qualifying flight spend for WestJet flights flown during the Promotion Period, or 2) a minimum of $1,000 in qualifying flight spend for WestJet flights flown during the Promotion Period and are WestJet RBC World Elite MasterCard primary cardholders.
The member's flight benefits will be awarded on a promotional basis and will expire on December 31, 2017. Flight benefits awarded on a promotional basis, including through this Promotion, may have shorter validity periods than when awarded to a member as a result of regular program activity (ie. achieving $4,000 or $6,000 in qualifying flight spend on WestJet flights flown within a qualifying year).
The following are excluded from this Promotion: WestJet dollar earn rates and milestone awards. The ability for any member to receive increases to WestJet dollar earn rates on WestJet flights and vacation packages, and to receive milestone awards, such as companion flights, in the WestJet Rewards program is directly correlated to a member's qualifying flight spend at any point in time and will not change as a result of a member achieving Gold and Silver flight benefits through any means, including this Promotion. Earn rates will increase and milestone awards will be awarded in step with the normal qualifying flight spend milestones set out in the WestJet Rewards program.
Participating members will be eligible to receive Silver or Gold flight benefits one time only through this Promotion or any other promotion available during the same timeframe. Members may not receive Silver or Gold flight benefits and vouchers through multiple promotions.
All other WestJet Rewards program terms and conditions remain in effect.
Promotion is subject to change without notice.
For more information on WestJet Rewards, visit westjet.com/rewards.
In order to take advantage of the benefits of Silver or Gold, it is recommended that you review your communication consent and opt-ins to receive communications.
The WestJet Rewards Fast Track offer is provided by WestJet, not Royal Bank of Canada.

This is getting a little ridiculous. If they are serious about attracting business customers, they need to stop diluting their program. I have been a loyal WS business traveler, and always the top status of whatever program they have, but they seem to be giving away Gold faster than I can type it these days.

I remember when the better credit card had a 350 WS$ signup bonus and was World MC, not World Elite MC. The change to World Elite came with promises of improved card features that never materialised. At the same time, the fees for merchants went up, because a customer paying with a World Elite card often costs them a higher disagio than a World card customer.

That may all be on the RBC side. I don't know how much WestJet is involved in these things.

No, they need to improve it. It's currently one of the weakest frequent flyer programs out there.

And you got your Hilton Diamond through stays or a Status Match? It's how the "loyalty" business works today to entice customers away from the competition.

Sir, you make a very good point haha. I did switch about 25 nights to Hilton because of that match.
