I do hope that the meal offerings are decent though, but I'm not optimistic. I'm wishing for more premium economy meal upgrade options like on Air France/Aer Lingus and less like Jetstar's charge-for-coach-quality food. Jetstar wanted $24 AUD for just typical free coach food like this: http://www.aircanada.com/shared/imag...nt_economy.jpg

Compare that to Air Canada that sells off the Business Class dishes in Economy for $11-15 on domestic routes.

Yup, that is something I value if I fly AC Y long-distance domestically. But the way AC executes it is not the greatest in terms of timing.

I think that one might be able to purchase Plus meals, whether the hot or cold meals, that are leftover, in the Main Cabin on both 763 and 737 aircraft.

That would be good.

On AC the premium economy meal service is on par with what AC does for domestic business class. It is a pretty nice meal for airline food. If they are selling it off for $14 that is probably a good indication of how much it costs to provision.

If WestJet were to offer an equivalent meal to Premium-Economy on AC that is would be ok. Load a few extras on and then sell the leftovers in Economy.

But they need to include at least some crappy meal for all the Economy passangers on a 10 hour flight. On a 10 hour flight the competition at least does a hot meal after take-off and another smaller meal/snack for breakfast just before arrival.
