Slim pickings for YEG it seems, though the MIA might come in handy for some connections.

Yes, how come that they didn't go to FLL instead? They didn't announce it. MIA is too extremely expensive. Due to high landing fees. There is no way to landed in FLL. FLL is a cheapest than MIA. It very near cruise terminal. It's very easy, and is more convenient who want to fly to FLL instead of going to MIA.

WestJet Encore please add YYC-YQL. Air Canada fares are killing me on this route.

Going from Western Canada straight to Miami, then connecting on AA n/s to places like Rio, Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Salvador, Santiago etc saves a lot of travel time over going through Toronto.

For the me and the people I do business with, saving time trumps collecting near valueless points and vague chances of upgrades on EVERY occasion.

I'd rather be going to where I need to be instead of sitting in a lounge eating stale sandwiches WAITING to go where I need to be.

Actually, WS has flew YVR-Hawaii. Because YYJ doesn't have US preclearance facility.

Yes they still do YYJ-HNL, as well as YYC-HNL, YYC-OGG and YEG-OGG. I don't know why there is no YEG-HNL though

Miami has been known to have the odd cruise ship sail from there as well.

Yes, you're absolutely right. I remember where the cruise terminal is. It is near downtown Miami. Too many traffic. Just keep avoided the rush-hours traffic. They don't want to stuck the traffic.

Why connect in YYC at all, ever? Fly the American carriers to their hubs to connect and show WestJet and AC that they're Canadian means diddly-sqat to true Edmontonians.

Would it be feasible to have a MIA based plane that flies one day a week to some underserved markets like: YLW, YEG, YQR & YXE, YWG, YQT, etc.? I know that I'd pay a good premium to get on a direct flight to Miami, and I could start a holiday any day of the week.

I'm sure if it made sense, an airline would be doing it. I don't see landing slots being an issue. Or doesl that screw up the price that the airline could charge for all their other flights?
