AA to WS

Flying to LAX on AA from NRT next month and then transfering to WS to YEG. This was all booked on one ticket on AA.com. Does anyone know if I have to pick up my checked luggage in LA or not? If I do, that would mean I would have to pay WestJet's second bag fee, right?

I'm not sure it necessarily means you have to pay the fee. But won't you have to clear US immigration, requiring you to have your bags anyway?

To answer my question, I didn't have to pay the second bag fee.

Generally, bag fees are based on the originating flight. Connecting flights on the same ticket typically do not have any extra baggage fees, even if you have to recheck your bags.
