Info on Westin/Sheraton club changes

Attention Westin and Sheraton members. If
you go to www.biztravel.com and check out the
BizTravel-ize site you can get some info
on what the merging and change of Westin Premier and Sheraton Club International will
mean for members (I am a member of BOTH.)

Starwood says it won't give complete details
till after Labor Day... but it makes for
interesting reading.

I'm sure RANDY will have even better facts
before then.

FYI: Concerned about losing my miles and the
higher point levels I cashed in my Westin points and will enjoy a very nice Ocean Front
View from Maui for the leasure part of my
trip there. (The way my summer's going I will despirately need some R&R before then!)

Membership sometimes has its privilages.
I hope with Westin and Sheraton they can continue. CATMAN

Let me more specific... it's under the Biz
Travel magazine section under the current
Tactical Traveler article by Joe Brancatelli
(the same guy whose articles are in Inside
Flyer -- great writer.)

Just scroll down to the Sheraton-Westin section. Good reading though in the whole
article. CATMAN

I have only 19000 pts and called Westin to make a transfert to Sheraton Club. They refused. But today they call me back to tell me that is possible and give them my Sheraton CLub member. i will check my Sheraton account to be sure. There must be mount of complaints about the deception of their postcard announcements and member inquiries. I post some deceptions feeling about the way Westin treated thier passed patronage in different travel forums.

One wonders if they are loosening up because of complaints or because final plans for the new program are coming together. If the latter, it may be that the conversion ratio of old program points to new program points will be more generous for Westin points than for Sheraton points. Since more details are supposed to be announced next month and the transfer of Westin points to Sheraton points is permitted through the end of the year, people may want to wait to see where they get the most bang for their bucks (points). Just a thought.

I wish I could have waited, MileKing, but
I got concerned the award levels would become
astronomical and I would have to wait twice
the time to get stays at the popular Westin
and Sheraton hotels and resorts. (I was
lucky to get three free nights in Maui for free which I will need after my business trip there!)

GOt the shock of the year when Sheraton
willingly rolled over the points to Westin
(They had availablity there than at the
Sheraton) and even said If you need to transfer back just call back. The Westin people were nice about booking the reservation and I even added a night because
I had some extra points. But the three people I talked to were somewhat in the dark
about the program merger (one said "OH OH!")

Now MIle King has me thinking what the conversion ratio will be.

Marriott was nice to convert the Renaissance
points at 10 to one (if my ratio's wrong,
then correct me.) CATMAN
