The Times forgot to mention "Day 2: Stay in Bed and Recover."

SEATAC TO SEATTLE-DOWNTOWN
Taxi $28 - 32
On Call Limo $30

The limo sounds to good to be true.

We ended up taking the airporter grayline bus. It was $9.50 roundtrip per person with an airline employee id. You have to buy the roundtrip ticket initally. They stop at about 10 hotels. On the way into town we stayed at the Sheraton. No big deal, they stay at each hotel about 5 minutes or less, depending on amount of passengers getting off. On the way back to the airport, we got on at the Westin and were the only ones on the bus the entire trip. Nice ride. Door to door. No real "lugging".

Thumbs up you can play Charlie & the Chocolate Factory...

A polite summer time bump with a new suggestion.

If you're planning to spend some time in Fremont and like chocolate, make plans to stop by Theo Chocolate. They're an all-organic shop that roasts their bean on site. It's in the old Red Hook Brewery.

They highly suggest to call and make reservations for the tours which are only on sat & sun at 1p & 3p. The tour costs $5 and you definitely get the value in chocolate through the tour.

Just something new for folks to try out!

Ok, bumping this.
Just spent a lovely weekend partaking in Postmark Gelato in Fremont. You know, I love being home, and the stuff is truly wonderful for being on this side of the pond, but the Lenin statue gives me the creeps

No, that's actually the first I've heard of that. At first it sounds interesting, but then looking into it... a 2.5 hour tour w/ 6-7 stops?

That doesn't sound too like too much fun to me.

SEA onsite car rental

I'm heading out to Seattle Sept 21-6. Looks like I'll miss the food tour, but I'll manage.

My question is about rental cars at SEA. I arrive at 10:30PM and depart at 12:40PM. Car rentals are always cheaper off site, but I'm a little worried about actually being able to get a car off site at 10:30-11:00PM. Any thoughts?

Also, if I go with an on-site rental are there others besides those listed on the SEA site, e.g. Alamo, Avis, Budget, Hertz and National. They seem to have a category called desk on site and location off site, which sounds like a problem.

Thanks for any info on this. Sorry if it's not appropriate for this thread, but this was the closest I could find.

NY Times 36 hours in Seattle

The NY Times ran this article on 36 hours in Seattle.

Since I'm headed out that way, I'd be interested in comments from locals on the NYT view of Seattle.

I think that mean that you check in at the airport but have to take a shuttle to go get your car???
I honestly, don't know, that's just my guess.

Where are you staying? If it's downtown, it actually may be cheaper to take a cab from the airport to your hotel and then getting a rental from dowtown the next day. It is much cheaper to rent from the downtown Hertz and Avis than from the airport.

Relevant Thread- Good deals on rental cars at SEA?
