Agree 100%. The roads can be quite treacherous in winter storms. I'll take a plane any day.

ASE is very cognizant of weather and unfortunately this means that a fair number of flights get cancelled in the winter. But better safe than sorry.

When wx causes OSO/IRROPS, I've seen ASE sectors divert to everywhere; EGE, GJT, MJT, HDN, COS, even back to DEN, and one time even to Cheyenne.

It all depends on wx at the other airfields, off-line/on-line company stations, crew time, etc.
