Former International Service from Seattle

Hi,

I was trying to think of all international airlines that have formerly served SEA. I know there is SAS, Air France, and NW before the DL merger. Any other airlines or interesting routes?

Thanks.

Thanks for helping me find this thread.

So it seems like there has been:

NW to HKG (and KIX, but DL now covers that)
AM to MEX
SK to SVO
AF to CDG (now replaced by DL)
CI to TPE

I'm sure there are others. It is interesting that SEA-DXB was being discussed in 2007. Flyertalk is always ahead of the curve!

JAL flew a Tokyo-Seattle route, beginning in 1960. This was discontinued at some point. This route was reestablished in April 1983, but was again discontinued some 10-12 years later.

That route, Seattle-Osaka on Delta, is now discontinued, as of November 2013.

United still will code share on All Nippn flight between Tokyo and Seattle. Im not all that surprisd by it since the Tokyo-Seattle flights by ANA and UA departed within an hour of each other.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/todayi...s-day/3638145/

" United will drop its Seattle-Tokyo nonstop route and will balance that by adding a second daily nonstop flight to Tokyo from its biggest hub at Houston Bush Intercontinental. United's Japanese Star Alliance and trans-Pacific joint venture partner All Nippon Airways will continue to fly to Tokyo from Seattle, where it will compete with Delta's nonstop service on the same route. Delta has ramped up its presence from Seattle during the past year, including new routes to Asia. That includes routes from Seattle to both of Tokyo's airports: Narita and Haneda. "

Don't forget that AA used to fly SEA-NRT. AA 29 one-stopped MIA-SEA-NRT in the 90's and into the 2000's. I think the slot ended up going to ORD-NRT. IIRC they bought this route from CO.

Back in the mid 1980's, flew UA (after it took over Pam Am's Pacific routes) JFK-SEA-HKG (upper deck 747SP's) while UA flew SEA-NRT using 747-200's. Friendship Service was one of the buzz word - connecting DC10 SEA-JFK, it was great for bonus miles. Never a preferred routing if JFK-NRT-HKG was available, especially on the return (to retrieve luggage, thru immigration & custom, etc.) Route was discontinued by the early 90's as I recall and UA traffic shifted to SFO/LAX for us flying from East Coast before the polar route opened up.
