Unhappy Mail Pickup at Seatac Airport

There is a mail box inside SEATAC airport, before security, but there is a notice that USPS only picks up mail there as a courtesy. So, it apparently is not an official mail box.
I dropped a letter off in that mail box in December on my way to a flight, and that letter was never received by the addressee. Which put me in a bind, as the letter was to pay a bill.
Other people experiences??

If the receipt of the letter was important enough that it would put you in a bind if not received, I would not have used an unofficial mail box. Similarly, for absolutely has to be there mail I won't the drop the mail with a hotel front desk. That said, even mail deposited in an official drop box sometimes goes missing.

Beyond that, the link listed earlier in the thread shows mail drops at SEA.

There's one on the lower arrivals level, near the midpoint of the pick-up area. Official blue box, IIRC.
