Grand Sierra Resort - Airport Transfer?
I scored a couple of free nights at the GSR next week. ^
iirc, they offer an airport shuttle...HOWEVER, I was wondering if anyone can comment on it's reliability or any other factor that might sway me to rent a car?
thanks

The shuttle to and from the airport is pretty reliable, but I think their last departure from the airport is around 11pm or so. I know I've missed it on a late flight. Call to check. Cab fare is around $10 with tip.
It's quite possible to hop around Reno on the casino shuttles, using the airport as a hub of sorts. The casinos are happy to oblige as long as you give the impression you'll be dropping some money at their properties.

The distance from RNO to the GSR is 2 miles if Google Maps is accurate. (Can't believe I never bothered to check this out D'oh!)
I had the impression the GSR was kind of isolated & I guess folks meant from downtown but you're right 2 miles is not thaaaat far away, especially considering the ability to transit via the airport hub.
That said, I'll likely get a car at some point just for the flexibility.

IIRC there is a Charlie Palmer restaurant at the GSR that was a pretty tasty dining experience.
If you have a car I would also suggest Wolfdale's for dinner on the north shore of Lake Tahoe not far from the outlet of the lake.

Depending on when you arrive, the walk to GSR is actually quite short. There is also public transit that pulls up to the GSR doors. Nice place but definitely not near downtown.
