Top Metropolitan Washington Airport Authority Officials Got Big Raises In 2012

MWAA President Jack Potter received a $25,000 signing bonus last year and now makes $375,000 annually, is the former U.S. postmaster general.

MWAA Vice President Christopher Browne received a $6,333 raise in January and a $14,389 pay adjustment eight months later, he is now paid $225,000 a year. Elmer Tippett, vice president of public safety, went from $195,967 last year to $210,000.

Andrew Rountree, vice president for finance and chief financial officer, also went from $197,742 last year, to $203,872 in January and to $225,000 in June.

Steven C. Baker, VP of business administration, going from $183,755 last year to $205,567 this year. Arl B. Williams, VP of human resources saw two raises within three months, going from $185,528 to $208,774.

Nepotism Rife At MWAA

Members of the Kulle family, mother, son, daughter, the children’s spouses and her daughter-in-law’s brother were employed by the agency, making more than $400,000 last year, not counting overtime or bonuses.

Wow - I started out writing a post to defend these salaries, but the Executive Director alone looks to be $50k to $100k too high. Look at these comps.

LAX - $326k
ATL - $220k
Port Authority - $289k
ORD - $179k

And the Port Authority is running three airports - all three of which are bigger than MWAA's two.

I see DC getting piad more because of it managing more than 1 airport. I dont know how much they are involved in toher not so obvious matters regarding GC security.
