As of late last year all economy flights qualify for 2 tier points. Quite useful - I re-qualified with 1xUC, 2xPE, 2xEconomy this time around.

Given that there's nowhere to enter an HHonors number, any idea how we're going to get the 2.5k HHonors points? Given that VS no longer fly to BOM and don't have a dayflight back from BOS, that's about all that's in the promo for me

Flying Silver/Gold

I have just joined today. I have had a silver card for 10 years and have maintained it just by flying economy.LRecently, a relative had chatted up someone at Virgin and was immediately given the gold card, even though he had not previously been with Virgin at all. Some opinions here, have stated that the silver card is only good for collecting air miles. I disagree. Frequently I have been upgraded to premium and upper class now and again. It seems that if one has `the gift of the gab`, then it is possible to circumvent the `usual procedures` for a card upgrade without having to `earn` it. I wonder if anyone will reveal in having had a similar experience?

Would you mind sharing that someone at Virgin so I can get that Gold upgrade. I just did the Silver upgrade myself. Just want to rack up the mile points.

Usually something like this:

"Dear Virgin FC, I am not a FC member but I am planning on 5 Upper Class return trips in the coming six months (refer to booking refs e.g. ...) - please would you make me FC Au now rather than waiting"

VS FC "Yes we'll consider that ..." either immediately or after first flight.

Helps if caller can demonstrate top tier membership of other airline frequent flier scheme.

Other than that, start courting a man / woman in the relevant Virgin department !!!

I signed up with the link provided for VS silver but I had no miles to begin with. Does anyone know if I were to use the link and sign up my brother - he wouldn't lose his miles in his account would he? (VS red he has over 100,000) thanks!

Why would you even think of taking the slightest risk of losing 100K points?

If you are trying to get something you are not entitled to, and you break the Flying Club T&C. Section 9 makes it quite clear that VS can cancel your account of any breach.

The consensus seems to be at the moment that people using dodgy (fraudulent) means to obtain silver status, are getting it without a problem.

No one knows how long this will last for.

If you have never flown with Virgin and have nothing to lose, then it isn't a problem. (though, if you don't fly with an airline, why would you want status in the first place?) However, if you have 100k miles in your account, I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole.

Just my two cents.

Nick

Whether signing up for a second FF account is fraudulent, well that is a bit harsh and not really clear-cut.

But agreeing with N Nick, I would not risk 100k miles for the silver. I signed up twice because my previous account had 2,500 miles in it and my new one has 2,500 miles in it. I would never ask them to even link those as they would most likely close one down and remove the status.

You could always email them should you have the required HH status and ask if they would consider giving Silver.

Just signed up and was given Silver!

However, I did not have to input my Hilton info anywhere. Also, no 2,500 point welcome bonus.

Nick

I only looked at the T&C for the link that was provided and did not go over the FC T&C so I am glad you pointed it out to me with the usual FT response.

Does anyone know how one can receive the 2500 Hilton HHonors points from this promo? I don't think it asked anywehere in the signup page, however I was instantly upgraded to VS Silver.

That's what I'd like to know. I signed my wife and I for the promotion and in the welcoming e-mail, there was no info regarding the HH points?

I only signed up for the points, actually, so the question is how do you get them?
