This is great, I signed up a few people just to get the upgrades on the HEX. I actually have flown virgin, but like AA better. As I fly to LHR every 3-4 weeks, the HEX upgrades will come in handy to b in the first car (faster to taxi line).
I signed up for this offer but never received anything - does anyone know how I can get the card/upgrade vouchers? I e-mailed them but they said I had to take my first flight. People have reported to receive this without flying.
Furthermore, as a Silver, what is the extra baggage you are allowed to bring?
You have to take a flight OR dump miles into your account from a financial partner like AmEx. As for silver benefits, I'm sure the extra baggage allowance, if any, is listed on the Virgin Atlantic website.

You have spend money on virgin and fly on them, then you get goodies.
I just want to thank the FT community for the following:
1) mike turnbull for the heads up about the comp'd Silver status with VS
2) another FTer on the CC who transferred AmEx MR points to my VS account to trigger the elite back (yay free luggage tag)
3) and a third FTer who let me refer her to Flying Club so I could collect the referral bonus
All told, the generosity of the FT community got me a shiny luggage tag a £50 Virgin Voucher*. Thanks guys!
* I know, using miles for vouchers is poor value, but with no flights to Canada on VS, I wasn't going to accumulate many more miles anytime soon.
I got a reply from Virgin and it seems to be an anomaly to receive the card before the flight like some has. The Virgin website is poor for information for both Gold and Silvers and no extra luggage allowance is given to Silvers which is hardly surprising when they give it away.
Interesting comment. Can you expand? What information did you expect that isn't there?
Nick
I don't know, checking out the "gold-page" I noticed they do list all benefits for Golds so assumed it was poor for Silver but it is that they are rather poor in benefits... compared to various airlines. Nonetheless, I won't complain as long as they give out Silver for free - that is, if I ever get to use it.
