Yes the maximums are close but I was talking about fees. I don't think the fees are related to actual additional cost or government regulations. They seem quite arbitrary. Some airlines offer 70lb/32kg for free, and some do not.

Luggage dimension question

For Virgin Australia I understand there is a 23kg weight limit. What occurs if I am under weight for a domestic flight but over the 140cm size? All my luggage bags are 152cm to 158cm.

As long as it does not exceed 32Kg in weight and is in proportion it should be OK.

I think they need to add the "HEAVY" tag over a certain weight?

IME they do that for anything over 20 kg

I'm in a similar situation (~150cm overall). I called to reserve seats and asked re: oversize. Was told that it would be no problem as long as it does not weight over 32kg.
