Are you able to book SQ redemptions using Velocity points

I am trying to assist a family member redeem Velocity points on a MEL-SIN leg for November 2012, but nothing seems to be coming up in any class on SQ.

Are Velocity members able to redeem on SQ yet?

The Velocity site certainly lists SQ flights as available.

SQ is notoriously known to be restricting award availability to their own program members only. You will have hard time to get anything... However, I can see some award seats (both in business and economy) available in November for Star Alliance members... See below:

When you say the site lists SQ flights as available, do you mean the you can actually see SQ flights if you do a dummy booking?

Thank you vbroucek for your contribution re Star Alliance redemption. It is probably a fair assumption that Velocity will mirrow SQ Star Alliance inventory.

I never understand why SQ make it is so difficult to redeem on their flights. I am aware that SQ have a high revenue passenger percentage in their premium cabins, but so must CX and yet CX make redemption inventory available across all their Oneworld partners, appartently without fear or favour.
