Memo to Virgin ....... buy a new CLOCK!

We know DJ are based in QLD and we know QLD in manyl things does things differently than the rest of the country.

HOWEVER, when your website advertises 'Happy Hour' as between 4-6pm AEST .. please buy a new clock, and make a mental note the rest of us are not working on Bjelke Petersen inspired hangover time zones. @:-)

It is now just after 4pm in the REAL AEST where half the country's population lives, but Virgin cheerfully advises 4pm will not occur for another hour or so.

Virgin is actually correct ...

AEST is not corrected for daylight savings.

So SYD and MEL and using AEST and our watches and computers are all an hour out using your logic.

Interesting response.

Sydney and Melbourne are currently using AEDST, (along with the rest of their states), Queensland decided some time ago not to go with DLS (sadly) as such we remain on AEST.

Try living 500m from the QLD/NSW border like I do...

It's not "my logic" - it is an actual fact. Sydney and Melbourne are not on EST any more. They use EDT in summer ...

BNE is on EST and therefore the clock is correct.

If the question is whether they should time the happy hour on BNE or MEL/SYD time, i agree it would make sense to go with EDT in summer. But the clock is still correct!

Come on ozstamps. you of ALL people should be used to the concept of different time zones within the same country. You see it in the US all the time.

It should be patently obvious to you (of all people) that AEST does not equal AEDST, and the DJ website clearly states AEST (which is UTC+10) - the fact that NSW, Vic, SA and Tas are on AEDST (which is UTC+11) is beside the point, the advertising is correct.
