This has been confirmed, VA's "Capital Connect" service although "meal" is a slight exaggeration as it's half hour flight. It will be a full service offering though.

Some info here: http://www.ausbt.com.au/virgin-austr...ce-to-canberra

I would like to know what Virgin Australia's Policy on inflight meals is for those of us who for medical, health or religious reasons cannot eat the standard meals on offer.I am lactose intolerant myself so have to be super careful with everything I eat or alternatively depending on the time of day I am flying go pick me up a Foot Long Subway Roll tell them nicely at the shop no cheese on the way to the Airport and take that on the plane with me.Any help would be most welcome.

I know this policy has changed...what meals are offered nowadays? The website says that specific flight times or destinations get meals. I am flying SYD-CNS-SYD and curious what to expect midday.

If in economy then very little. A 2oz snack if you are lucky!

On a flight that long, eat before or otherwise, BOB is your best bet.

Darn, I had read they were providing free meals on certain flights. Maybe they just mean transcontinental flights to PER or something.

Free meals in Y are offered on PER-SYD/MEL/BNE, as well as all DPS and NAN flights.

In addition, free drinks are offered on all domestic flights departing during "happy hour" times: 5-7pm, Mon-Fri

Actually, SYD-CNS featured a nice snack box with small sandwich, sweets, and a mint plus water/tea/coffee/juice.

My husband's flight says "snacks" or something like that. Is this referring to paid snacks or will he get something like a packet of crisps?

I flew last Sat/Sun from MEL to OOL return; approx. 2 hours each way.

11:15am departure I was served a small chocolate bar.

1:50pm departure I was served a small (3"x2˝") egg, lettuce and mayo sandwich.

These came with complimentary Tea/Coffee/Water.

I could purchase more substantial F&B if I desired (from a menu similar to THIS). Note no hot BoB food on flights as short as those.

Thanks, it looks like reasonably decent sandwiches/wraps would be on offer for purchase then.

Food offerings in the VA lounge aren't too bad, salads, toasted sandwiches, occasional hot food. Barista made coffee, pretty good bar - no spirits.

On board, frankly it's a bit of joke these days, they are just going through the motions of offering something. It's a tiny muesli bar, couple of tiny slices of cheese etc. I would hardly call it a meal.
