LAX-LHR going to DL equip

One of the two daily nonstops from LAX-LHR (and back) is now listed on VS's and DL's site as a codeshare operated by DL. ~Nov 1st a DL 767-300 replaces VS's A330-400.

The LAX-LHR flights are A340-600's not A330-400's

Flight number: VS 008
Operated by: Virgin Atlantic Airways
Departs: Los Angeles (Los Angeles International Airport)
Tue December 16 2014 at 17:15
Arrives: London (London Heathrow Airport)
Wed December 17 2014 at 12:00

Meal: Complimentary meal and drinks provided
Aircraft type: Airbus A340-600

I've yet to see an A330 on the LAX-LHR route.

The DL flights are 767-300's

And the VS 23 service in recent years only operated in the peak weeks over the winter. The DL service will be daily on a 767 through the whole period so is an increase in capacity for the JV.

So VS will still operate the VS7/8 service - likewise VS pick up the peak LHR-ATL service which again is a capacity increase over the DL 767 it replaces.

This change has been reported below. VS currently operates LHR-LAX using 744 and an A346 and will transition to using two A346s on 10/6/2014. Then a DL 763 will replace one of the A346s beginning on 10/26/2014.

Also, what is an A330-400? I didn't realize VS was the launch customer for this new and unannounced aircraft.

Edited to add:
An interesting side note -- prior to taking over one of the VS flights on this route, Delta will market DL 19 and DL 56 as "direct" LHR-LAX and LAX-LHR flights (1 stop in DTW in each direction) on 9/2-9/30 only. The DL 19 and DL 56 flight numbers are currently used for "direct" service on LHR-MCO (stop in DTW) and FLL-LHR (stop in DTW), respectively, and will return to those flights after 9/30. The corresponding DL 18 (MCO-LHR) and DL 57 (LHR-FLL) flight numbers will also be borrowed for other flights during the same 9/2-9/30 period, but I haven't figured out what flights yet.
