I would not count on 1:2 conversion to Alaska for a second.

A lot of long time loyal VX customers (me included) are already going to be alienated and not loyal to AS simply because AS has crappy hard product and isn't similar to VX in any way (except good customer service, which VX used to have until 6 months ago). Points exchange rate is the least of it.

I would echo that. They want people to transfer points into elevate now as they will almost certainly be transferred one to one into AS making them worth a whole lot less.
Those 2,000 point redemptions on flights like SFO-LAX will soon be 7,500 at best. The 20,000 RT redemptions to HI on Aloha will also disappear.
Plan wisely.

Yeah...unless you have a pre-merger plan for the points (particularly if it's on VS, but an internal redemption can make sense as well) then I'd argue that if you "take advantage" of this you're the one being taken advantage of. Hell, I'm even wondering whether to credit VX flights to Elevate for the rest of the year...I'll likely end up with Silver almost no matter what, but if I can't make Gold this year (increasingly likely given where my travel plans have gone) then I'm not sure if piling up miles, even at the increased rates, is worthwhile.
Fair disclosure: I already burned the strip on my VX CC and I've transferred all of my non-VX spending to another card (given that I have Gold and I always book F straight out, there's a 95% chance I kill the card before the AF comes up again).
