How does this change affect my earning Elite Qualifying Miles (EQM) and Elite Qualifying Segments (EQS)?
* EQM will be awarded based on the actual flight miles earned
* Bonus EQM will be awarded at the appropriate percentage of the actual flight miles earned.
* EQS are not affected by this change.
Mileage Earning Example:
A Premier member on a United flight from Albuquerque (ABQ) to Denver (DEN) in Y class (full-fare Economy) would earn the following:
- Redeemable flight miles: 339
- EQM: 339
- Full-fare EQM bonus: 170
- Premier Redeemable miles bonus: 85
Retroactive credit
United flights of 500 or miles or less flown on or before June 30, 2008, but posted to Mileage Plus accounts on or after July 1 will accrue Mileage Plus credit under the previous policy of a minimum of 500 miles per flight segment.
Partner flights of 500 miles or less flown on or before June 30, 2008, but posted to Mileage Plus accounts on or after July 1 will accrue Mileage Plus miles under the previous policy for each specific airline partner. See specific Airline partner's information.
I ran to UA when US enhanced the 500 minimum credit to exact miles flown. Now that UA is adpoting the Doogie model, what's the sense in staying with UA.
<Sigh> if only AA was bigger in PHL.

Nah, perfectly understandable. I for one probably wont be flying UA anymore if they become US. This change isnt becoming US, but it may the the beginning of that change. Time will tell.

Maybe not. If I were AA and saw the reaction I would be sending letters to UA frequent flyers telling them about AAdvantage and keeping the 500 mile minimum. If I were AA and UA and US merged I would be sending a great email

Absolutely. Back when UA was experiencing the "Summer from Hell" my travel agent for our business travel said that he had a call from a salesperson at AA. He asked the agent to tell all of their customers that flew on UA that AA would match their UA status automatically up to Plat (mid tier) all they had to do was fax a statement if they wanted to switch. If there is a UA merger with the resulting confusion and problems, I expect that AA and probably Delta are going to be all over UA/US elites like flies on **** as it were.
