DCA

I'm not sure if he counts as a Celebrity but John McCain was waiting for my 10:15am flight DCA to PHX this morning. I now know why I couldn't get an upgrade even as a chairman. He had his whole Entourage with him. They needed 7 Volunteers so I gave up my seat for a $400 TFC.

Was it a 757 run? 49? That flight is always full and such a tough upgrade regardless of whether McCain is on it or not, hehe

John McCain is DEFINITELY a celebrity, but what I don't understand is why he wasn't flying on his wife's private jet? Maybe she is angry with him since he did not win the White House! LOL

Perhaps I'm wrong, but I thought McCain is one of the reasons the reason the DCA-PHX flight exists. If that's not a sign of status, I don't know what is.

I've been booked on the 10:15am departure a number of times. It looks like it's consistently a A319. There is a 7am and 5pm that are ran by a 752.

I've been in US flights with other Political folks but he seemed to be the one that appeared the most protected and with the largest entourage. There was a few security guys with US Capitol lapel pins that stayed behind but clearly visually screened every passenger boarding. Maybe he's mad that she posed with her daughter for the NOH8 campaign - clearly her support is against his views. I wouldn't let him ride on my barbie jet either

Maybe he has some residual extra security as the most recent Republican Presidential Candidate for President that other Senators do not have.

Speaking of volunteers...

I have yet to score voucher. Is there a pattern or trend when it comes to US needing volunteers? My travel is almost always flexible and it would be great to score these. I suppose the downside is that if I give up a seat in F, I may be in the middle of row 34 on the later flight.

Speaking of celebs, my FA on a Dash-8 flight yesterday told me she once had Manute Bol on one of her flights. Can you imagine that guy on a Dash-8?

I can't imagine Manute Bol on any aircraft other than one of the 752's with the extra space in front of the first row of seats in coach on the right that have about 4 feet of legroom in front of them, other than that or International BE, there is nowhere for Manute Bol to put his ridiculously huge legs on a commercial airplane!

Oh, Manute Bol probably could have been on her Dash 8, I just can't IMAGINE how he could have fit! (Even though Manute Bol is relatively famous, he is just obscure enough that a flight attendant would not come up with his name out of thin air to make up a story about like that. Someone with a bigger name, like Magic Johnson or Michael Oher would be more likely to make up a story about, they are better known.)
