On CLT-PHX flight now. 1 1/2 hours after pushback we got our first drink in
FC. At the same time FA announced that dinner was not catered. Just when I thought things were getting better at USAirways......
FA took everyone's drink order at one time 30 minutes into the flight and disappeared behind the curtain. Slooow. Less than an hour to landing and haven't seen him since. Not worth it at this point
You can take the HP out of the carrier's name, but you can't take it out of the service.
This is the product of a failure of business process. Something such as a checklist would solve this problem. If there's supposed to be a meal catered, a FA needs a checklist with a box checked showing that the meal was catered.
To be fair, if the catering is screwed up, the crew is going to time out, there's ATC/WX or other issues, I would not hold a flight for catering. But, maybe the meals are sitting on a truck at the next gate and we're talking about 5 mins.
As to the lousy service, don't worry about being persistent. If you order a drink and it doesn't come in a timely manner, absent some issue such as turbulence, hit your call button again. And then again.
On the one hand, US (HP) doesn't care because it gives its F product away as a freebie. On the other hand, it can't sell it's F product because of stuff such as this.

I've had status with Delta for 10 years, but living in CLT has made it a grind to fly through ATL to get anywhere. The plus is Delta's hard product and employees. I feel I get a consistent product. Every so often I tire of changing planes to fly anywhere and try UsAirways. Love the non stops but no AVOD, meal quality and mediocre service has kept sending me back to Delta. In June I tried the switch to UsAirways again. Until today I thought I was flying a different carrier. 10-12 flights have been EARLY, phone reps and flight crew have been fantastic, even food on long flights very good. No AVOD but lovin' those non stops. Until today, really bad service, and it shouldn't matter but i was on a paid F ticket on my dime.
UsAirways has improved leaps and bounds> Associates seem to care and it shows. Guess I just got a bad one. On to HNL tomorrow, fingers crossed.

PLEASE, PLEASE write this up. It breaks my hear to read these kinds of post because many of s work hard to provide a very good service and one that is actually consistent.
For the future, here is the service flow for FC:
*Hang jackets ( I know, a challenge)
*Pre departure bev (yes, suppose to be done unless some strange circumstance)
*Take bev/meal orders before take off (front/back-westbound, back/front-eastbound)
After take off when airplane has leveled. (15 or so minutes)
*hot towels
*bev with snack mix
*meal with all items but dessert
*refresh bevs
*clear meal tray
*dessert (if lunch/dinner)
*offer coffee
*clear dessert plate
*check cabin every 15-20 minutes
*Offer arrival bev
*return coats
*Thank customers for flying
*Buh Bye

Why are you starting a thread titled "Just when I thought it was getting better..." based on what you even admit in a later post as being a one-off occurrence? One poor flight out of "10-12" (to use your numbers) does not indicate a trend.
I have no problem with people starting a thread to complain about a flight, it's cathartic, I know. But call it "Bad flight experience today" or something like that. Saying "Just when I thought it was getting better" implies that now things are getting worse, which is not a conclusion that can reasonably be drawn from a single incident, no matter how bad that one incident.

You're right, my apologies. I was writing out of frustration on the flight. Did not get better. Passenger in front on me asked for water before landing. FA stated, sorry, my water tank is about dry and there are no bottles. I handed out coats to the passengers that hung their own behind my seat (4c I think).

I can only echo what others have said upstream: Please write this up and send to US. You are not asking for compensation. You are very supportive of US and appreciative of their high level of service. You do not have unreasonable expectations. For whatever reason, you were subjected to a pitiable excuse for service. Any cabin crew that was so alienated or self-absorbed or whatever to behave so weakly is likely to do it again ... and again. In which case, your thread title will be apt.
