Cheapest European City

Looking to use Dividend Miles for a First Class trip to Europe in ~Sept.

Anyone have any recommendations on which European city/cities are the cheapest miles to fly in/out of?

THANKS!

You may also want to consider which cities are the cheapest to stay in (hotel / food / transportation / etc.) as well, as this can potentially outweight your airfare.

That's not really the answer I was looking for?

Thank you though!

I assume you are flying out of North America?

The amount of dividend miles used for a roundtrip envoy flight to Europe depends on whether you are able to book a low (100k), medium (200k), or high (350k) award flight. This can vary day to day, and also depends on your departing aiport.

You can get better help here if you specify the airport you are flying out of.

The other thing to keep in mind is that at least one country (UK) imposes a hefty tax on premium seats departing from UK.

Flying out of BOS

Yes, the UK can add in quite a bit of cost - not to mention the exchange. From my preliminary findings it looks like major airports in Germany are a good bet; or Ireland

I prefer Amsterdam but that is a personal preference

Quick note about UK. You can avoid surcharge with an open jaw award ticket - that's what I did last year. I booked an envoy award ticket from CLT-MAN and the return was AMS-CLT. I got to AMS on a cheap KLM ticket.

Definitely consider open jaw if you would like to visit more than one city in Europe.

looking at the title of your post it wasn't immediately clear you were looking for a EU city to fly to with the least amount of DM miles. I thought you were looking for a... umm... an interesting city for some reason :P

PRG seemed to be ok. Wonderful place to visit too.

For places that US actually flies to, I'm going to guess MAD.

I suggest you search for partner award availability on Lufthansa, Swiss or another Star Alliance partner from Boston and then onward to any other city in Europe you desire. Flying BOS-PHL and then back tracking to get to Europe seems less efficient and practical.

To OP: The only possible issue with this - it *sounds* as if your primary goal is to get to Europe in Envoy/First using as few miles as possible. BTW, you can knock the lowest US award cost of 100k down to 95k if you have the Barclay's MasterCard.

Can't beat BCN ... though that's a seasonal destination.

Unless you are lucky, don't waste your time looking on US for a 95K award. Use the ANA tool (search thread) and do BOS-FRA or BOS-MUC and then onto wherever you want to go. I've done it a couple times already. If you are super lucky you might even get BOS-ZRH Tons of availability if the least bit flexible AND you can connect almost to any destination. I saw someone mention BCN. Loved it.... Also note with this type of award, you can do an open jaw or a stopover in FRA or MUC or another star alliance person.

Unless you are on a saver US award it seems that *A partner is better/cheaper on miles.
