"Maggots on a Plane" (USAIR 1537)
The Atlanta Fox affiliate has a report on their website titled "Video: Maggots Fall from Overhead Bin on U.S. Airways Flight - Airline says spoiled meat in a bag is to blame". Here's the link:
"The plane returned to the gate and passengers got off so crews could clean the overhead bin.
[US Airways spokesman Todd Lehmacher] says the flight then continued on to Charlotte, where the plane was taken out of service and fumigated out of an "abundance of caution."
US should really charge the owner of the maggot-bag for the cost of the fumigation. Common sense should dictate that the rotted meat belongs in the trash bag, not the travel bag. If they're some weird form of pet maggot, get a proper container for them so they don't fall out. This whole scenario just grosses me out.

Maybe not a carrion...

...USAirways said the problem was caused by a passenger who brought a container of spoiled meat onto the plane. Harrell has her doubts about that. She said there was no smell of rotten meat. And, she said, there were flies on the plane, meaning the maggots had been there long enough to mature into flies....
The flies did not necessarily have to come from the existing maggots but rather they could have been attracted to the spoiled meat looking to procreate their own little maggots.
But I would agree that the fact that two women from Syracuse smelled no rotting meat smells a little fishy.
