Someone with a better grasp try to spell it out for me in 1st grade english. These promos are not easy to follow by themselves nevermind together.

if i cant use both and stack it seems I got screwed. Ihad to buy a non-refundable ticket for the silver promo, AND then have to travel 7500, now seeing as i signed up before this h/s/j/ promo started why should i be penalized for buying a non-refundable ticket. Seems like i'd be spending more to get to silver status than non trial members that just got in on the h/s/j/! That doesnt seem kosher to me.... please tell me i wrong?
i'm in the same boat. have you emailed or contacted anyone at US about this, yet?

the way i thought it would have to work is that you qualify for silver with 7500 miles or 10 segments BEFORE you get your 4 h/s/j qualifiers. that would seem like the most logical thing, but we all know how far logic gets you when trying to talk with airline reps :/

To answer the earlier question about how long status lasts, this is from the confirming e-mail:

"Thank you for joining the Dividend Miles Trial Preferred program. We upgraded you to Silver Preferred status. To keep your Silver Preferred status through February 29, 2012, you need to fly 7,500 miles or 10 segments on US Airways or US Airways Express flights by September 29, 2010.*"
Does this mean I can obtain Silver status for the year by either (a) using my US Airways FF # for 7500 miles worth of United flights or (b) converting 7500 Starwood points to US Airways Dividend Miles?

From the very first post:

Only elite qualifying miles earned on flights operated by US Airways and US Airways Express can be applied toward the Preferred trial program.

Also talked with US people and they mentioned that mutliplier things also wouldn't count to reach the 7500 threshold so it has to be 7500BIS miles.

Looks pretty good to me. This is a promo where living on the east coast helps a lot!

Hopefully someone can provide the answer I am looking for.

Signed up for this promo, purchased a ticket and waited. Week later, I call up a dividend miles rep to see why my trial status didnt post. Apparently I had clicked a linked to sign up for the Jumpstart program back in May which makes me ineligible for this trial silver promotion. Only problem is I never took a flight during the jumpstart program's period so never actually used the promotion. Rep agreed this is messed up but claimed no one could override the system so I am SOL. Since everyone here is much more knowledgeable than me on these programs, is there any hope in me trying to escalate the issue?

Thanks!

I would call back and escalate. The 90 day Silver promo clearly states you cannot participate in both the Jumpstart and 90 day Silver promo. Per your description, you did not participate in Jumpstart, you only registered. If they had intended that you cannot register for both programs, they certainly would have used the word "register" instead of "participate". If they claim you already participated in the Jumpstart program, ask them how you did so because there are no related miles in your account. I would also push back in that the 90 day Silver promo states that you cannot participate in both promos, but doesn't prevent you from selecting which one you participate in. Explain that you want to participate in the 90 day Silver promo, not the Jumpstart promo. If they still didn't agree to follow their own published rules, and you want to get a refund on the recent ticket you purchased, I would seek a refund from your credit card company (after properly notifying US Airways).

is there an answer to the question of whether or not you would move up to gold if you flew 15k miles during this promo, or is it strictly to get silver within the 3 months? how many segments for gold - 20?

agent on the silver line i just called didn't seem to know, as she just had the t&c that we all have.

what's an even bigger ordeal for me, now, is that the guy i talked with the 3rd time when i actually was able to book a flight (due to website crapping out) did NOT include my dividend miles number after i even had to remind him to add it to the reservation! the agent i just spoke with had to write in comments under my account in case the silver promo doesn't show up. it's unreal how incompetent the agents are on the standard dividend miles line. silver line was a HUGE help

Thanks for the encouragement StarFlyer. I called back and was routed to their Philippine call center. Went through two supervisors who both insisted "Register" = "Participate" on JumpStart regardless of whether I earned a single mile or not. The final supervisor said there is no one higher up and the only thing I can try is contact "dmsc@usairways.com". Do you think this is the best next step or is there another number I can call to reach someone with authority? Thanks again!

Hereīs a thought......If you registered for the jumpstart, then you donīt qualify for the free trial silver.........So why donīt you just play the hop skip and jump program. get 4 points, and you have silver until 2012. if you were on the trial silver, i believe there are restrictions to the h/s/j program, and it may be a deterent to be trial silver, but from the way i read it, if you are DM with no status and you get 4 points, you are then silver to 2012. No qualifying or anything.
What does everyone else think? Doesnīt that solve the problem with the most economical and most beneficial solution.

Silver Posted less then 24 hrs

Silver Posted this afternoon, I bought my tickets Tuesday evening about 1130pm AZ times, and about 6pm today, I became Silver. Looks like I'll be able to keep silver for next year, I have 2 trips to STL, a couple of trips to SAN and one trip to SFO and RNO.

Practically speaking, the silver preferred trial is the easiest way to get silver since I just have to fly to the west coast twice to accrue the 7500 miles to lock in the status (already booked the first trip CLT->LAS for next week). Living in Charlotte pretty much cancels out all the h/s/j shuttle routes so I am left with either a trip to Cabo, Puerto Vallarta, Rome or Rio if I wanted to qualify for h/s/j with just one additional flight. Maybe I am missing something but this seems much more difficult/expensive than simply flying to the west coast once more for a long weekend.

Also with this promo, I would get silver instantly and save on baggage fees before the status is locked in.

From US Rep regarding H/S/J promo and Trial Preferred:

I was really confused by the language regarding the promo (like many of you)...hope this helps. Just got a reply to my email to Dividend Miles today:

If you earn Silver Preferred during your Trial period and also earn 4 hops, skips or jumps by 10/10/10 you will have Gold Preferred status until 2/29/12. Your account will not be updated with the hops, skips & jumps until after your Trial Preferred period has ended.

Thank you for the opportunity to further explain our Dividend Miles promotions. We look forward to serving you on future US Airways flights.

Sincerely,
(Rep Name)
US Airways Dividend Miles
