Some gates in Terminal C closed at Reagan Airport due to Flooding

Officials at Reagan National Airport are evacuating part of a terminal and are closing a baggage claim area after a problem with a pipe caused flooding.

Sorry for the rant -- I just checked into a hotel in Boston after my shuttle to DCA was cancelled. It was a disaster at the airport. The break happened at 4pm (I got to the club at 3) and there was no information given to any passengers or any attempt to reroute via UA, or PHL/CLT to IAD/BWI. My 6p shuttle was cancelled at around 6:15 just in time for the club to close so there was a very long line getting rebooked. The first class US Airways line said they could not help and I had to wait in the line at the shuttle counter. I did manage to get a flight tomorrow morning which is better than most probably fared.

I realize it's not USs fault that DCs infrastructure is crumbling but it would have been nice if they had been proactive to get people rebooked. One plus is that they were able to retrieve baggage for us.

Flights started back up about an hour ago. I have a question though:

My brother's DCA flt cxl-ed last night and he was told to go home. It turns out the flt did end up departing 3 hours later. He was rebooked for today and just departed. How will US classify this? It probably won't be WX/MX. How about IROPS? Or no accountability at all and blame it on an "Act of God" or MWAA? Should my brother expect any compensation? He unnecessarily spent $35 + $35 on taxi fares and lost a day of vacation when the flt was only delayed.
