Does US charge YQ on award tickets?

Hello,

could not find the answer; but need to know it urgently...
If I book ie an award ticket from JFK-FRA on LH do I then have to pay also the heavy LH YQ surcharge?

best regards,
flo_147

Why don't you just call DM reservations, ask about availability on/around your dates, and see what they say? My guess is that if LH collects YQ for their M&M members then a partner award would have the YQ charge as well.

No, if you book through US Airways you will just pay taxes, no YQ!

That is not always the case. JL has YQ charge on their own award flights using JL miles. However, there is no YQ charge on JL award flights using AA miles.

Is it still the case with partner airlines? AA does not charge YQ on partner award flights, but UA does.

Yes - US will not charge YQ on awards (they also don't break it out on their own revenue bookings).

UA doesn't charge YQ on awards either - even for partners. They do charge YQ on revenue tickets.

I got charged YQ on *award flights from Japan to Europe on NH and LH using UA miles. Funny. No big deal because I cancelled them anyway.
