They've also put out the word internally that crewmembers who commute to their base can get what we call "must ride" status, meaning they get a seat irregardless of who might get bumped off.
That's probably a sign that they're starting to run out of crewmembers to cover flights, or at least anticipate running out.
Additionally, that's fewer seats available to use for rerouting passengers for flights going into the bases - CLT, DCA, PHL, PIT, LGA, BOS
