America West Airlines (US) PHX-OGG, KOA-PHX
Has anyone here flown America West (US Airways) to Hawaii?
I got a pretty decent price roundtrip to Kona from Charlotte - $793 total. I wasn't planning on going home for winter break, but an unfortunate family situation is unfolding on the Big Island so I am returning.
CLT-PHX (US Airways, A321)
PHX-OGG (America West, B752)
OGG-KOA (Hawaiian, B712)
KOA-PHX (US Airways, A321)
PHX-CLT (America West, B752)
Because I booked so late, I ended up getting the very last remaining middle seats. I don't mind, though... as long as I can get home I will be very happy.
I am wondering what to expect for the flights crossing the pacific. It'll be both 752s. Is the inflight entertainment free? What meals do they serve and is it worth buying?

Sorry to hear about your family situation. The IFE is free if you bring your own headphones - any standard pair will do. The buy-on-board is nothing to write home about, but it's edible. There are better ways to get to and from Hawaii than US, but it'll get ya there.

Flights are standard HP flights.. nothing too special. You'll get BoB, just pray you are near the front, and 2 beverage services. IFE is standard movie, sometimes they'll do 2 if everyone is antsy.
Flights are mostly on time, and on the returns I've only seen them come by with a beverage cart once.
