Share the gift of travel this holiday season - share your miles with a friend or family member. It's an economical way to help someone travel.

This Cyber Week, from December 2–6, we're making sharing even sweeter with a special holiday bonus miles offer that can help you give up to DOUBLE the miles.

The more you share, the more bonus miles your friend or family member will receive.

US Website for info:
https://buy.points.com/marketing/usairways/landingpages/share.html?CAMPAIGNCODE=003_25_0110_BYUP50000BNS00 0000000_021213

Both accounts must be >= 12 days old.

NOTE: It is against the Flyertalk Guidelines & Rules to offer to trade, outside of Coupon Connection. Disciplinary action will be taken if there are posts to that effect.

The only other way to top of either of your accounts would be to each get the sign up bonus with the Barclay's card ( if you don't already have it).
I was looking at

Me = Currently 120k miles
Partner = Currently 0 Miles

I share 50k with my Partner & Partner buys 50k

Me = 70k
Partner = 150k

Partner Shares 30k with me

Me = 130k
Partner - 120k

However thinking I could gift her 10000 then bounce them back & fourth till that reaches the 50k limit.

We are in Aus, so none of the credit card sign ups are applicable

US have done this for a couple of times in the past few years. (Though this should be the last one)
They must have a good reason to keep doing this, such as making huge profits.
Why don't other airlines like UA/AA/AC print miles like US?
Curious.

There is a per transaction fee which is minor when dealing with a large bundle of points but would be a significant percentage of the charge if only trading 10K. This is not a viable option.

Ok just to double check will this work:
Account A 100k
Account B 0k
Account C 0k

Move 50k from A to B and 50k from A to C. Ending with:
Account A 0k
Account B 100k
Account C 100k

Correct?

You could also move 50k from B or C back to A and generate an additional bonus. Each account can receive 50k for a bonus.

So -

A - 100k
B - 50k (assuming B to A)
C - 100k

True, but I dont see a great award for 50k. 60K or something from Europe-Middle East in C would work..

Whew just did this....

A- 100K
B-100K
C-0K
D-0K

A->B 50K
B->A 50K
A->C 50K
B->D 50K

Final totals:
A- 100K
B- 100K
C- 100K
D- 100K

Generated 200K miles for ~2270

Not too shabby... gonna miss these promos....

I read somewhere that accounts had to have a pre-existing balance of 1000 miles.

Is this not true?

In addition to the transaction fee which makes the 10K back and forth a bad idea - why would you want to do this? You're capped at 50K in bonus each, so the best you can do is get to 130K/70K via the share promo.

I have my lowest balance account (usually my daughter) just buy F upgrades on TCONs where we know we won't clear otherwise. Then again, US lets us upgrade a TCON segment for 10k miles with no copay for elites (from any paid fare class as long as there is O inventory), which is something I will miss when it goes away.

Might pull the trigger on this as I have enough miles for 2 RT business class and almost enough for 2 RT first class tix to Africa via *A (assuming they let me book this late).

One noob question for someone out there is - do both passengers have to possess the miles or can they split amongst us regardless?

After I share miles to get to above 300k combined for the 2 of us...

1 person will have 135,709 miles

Other person will have 165,326 miles

Question is: Can we buy 2 first class tickets that way or will the 165k person need to share 15k back so that we each have 150k?
