Seat Selection Question (Seatmap shows no vacant seats in First)
I've noticed on the US website I can search for a flight and view the available pricing options but no seats are available.
I just checked 19-June PHL - SFO.
If I look at the seat map for 574, I see non refundable and refundable fares for 1st class but if I click on the seat map no seats are available.
Can I assume this is part of the 2 airlines merging or is this something else?
Just curious.

This is quite common on US flights. It usually means that all but the first row (and perhaps even just 1A-1C) are sold.
US blocks 1A-1C for handicap passengers, but will release them for anyone as the flight date nears.
Has absolutely nothing to do with the US-AA merger, this has been happening for years.

Expertflyer shows 2 F fares available for US 574 on 6/19/15. Currently 1A,D,F are blocked. 1C is occupied.
There are 7+ F fares available on the next flight (US 672).

Thanks. I've ever picked a flight where this happened before so I guess I'm just lucky. I'm assuming if you book it a seat will be assigned.
Thanks

This is not completely correct. 1A is the only seat blocked for handicapped passengers. All other Row 1 seats are blocked for elite members. Row 1 (except 1A) seats will be assigned to others if no other seats are open. 1A will be assigned in advance if no other seats are available, otherwise it can be assigned 24 hours or less before departure.
